Marian
Nixon is an artist/designer working out of Chicago, IL. Having been in
the surface design/licensing world since the late 1990s (we’re talking
pre-jpegs), this is her 2nd time exhibiting at Blueprint. Her
roots are in watercolors, but when the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil came
to town, the world changed. OK, the world didn’t change, but her
creativity exploded. Although you’ll still find the hand-painted pieces
in her collection, you’ll also see lots of mixed media – she
incorporates textures, especially wood, and photographs into her work,
and she never met a metallic that didn’t feel at home in her patterns.
Others call Marian’s work “whimsical”, but she prefers “playfully
sophisticated”. Her patterns are available for license and sale.
